“Be Curious, Connect, & Create.”
While sitting beside both of my parents during hospital stays for chronic conditions, I noticed something deeply wrong: no one asked them about their diet, daily activities, or mental health. When they were discharged, they were simply handed a thick packet of instructions that were hard to follow, and easy to forget. Healthcare wasn’t making them healthy.
Part of the disconnect stems from not meeting people where they are. What do they like to eat? What do they like to do? What gives them joy? And how can we accommodate those pastimes with the passing of time? We do better by staying curious, connecting, and creating.
4Everyone: Flavors, Fitness, Film, & Flow fosters curiosity, connection and creativity, by celebrating food (flavors), fitness, films (movies & tv), and music (flow), with content that touches upon innovation and culture, and other topics of related interest. For you ‘80s fans, and particularly those familiar with The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai universes, check out the review of the hope-related film -- you may be surprised to see a familiar face in an unfamiliar role, flexing his creative range.
We welcome readers and contributors from all over the world. Our contributors in this issue hail from North America, Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
In our inaugural issue, we kick off with an inspiring reflection by a national icon—7-time Olympic Medalist, entrepreneur, cancer survivor, and health advocate, Shannon Miller.
I also believe in paying it forward. A portion of proceeds from each issue will be donated to charitable causes. Contributions from the inaugural issue will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. My wife is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and health professional whose combination of service and selflessness continues to inspire. As she trains for the next 60-mile Susan G. Komen charity walk to support breast cancer research and care, I am inspired by her and participants worldwide who come together in solidarity to help find a cure. Let’s remain grateful to give back.
I’ve traveled the world over and lived in 10 places over the past 25 years. Every experience is an opportunity to grow. So find your flow and stay connected. Each of us has a story to share, and you never know who you might inspire. Welcome to 4Everyone---where we connect & create.
Wishing you health, wealth, and prosperity.
